Cognitive scientist Douglas Hofstadter labeled this phenomenon but we all know it’s true: everything always takes longer than you think, even when you plan that knowledge into your timeline.
My latest “planning fallacy” is launching this blog. I was sure it would be ready and running by the end of summer. Now, I have no idea though I am making progress establishing the direction and content focus you’ll see here. It looks like I’ll be live in October. So, under Hofstadter’s law, I guess I’ll be seeing you by Thanksgiving. (Hmm, does just saying that mean it won’t be until Christmas?) Please subscribe and follow me on twitter @beth_odonnell. Until then, I’ll be dancing on my own.
